Here at Wickhambreaux we believe that the Internet is a powerful tool for learning. We use several websites that children have been given logins and passwords for, the links to which can be found here.
We use Dynamo Maths not only to support children with difficulties in maths, but also to boost mental agility. Pupils who have followed the Dynamo programme have shown significant improvement in number recognition and manipulation.
In class 4 they use an online maths programme called Mangahigh this is game based maths designed to inspire pupils to work, and think, harder. There are competitions for the pupils with leaderboards and challenges, which the children love.
Throughout the school we use an online testing tool called SPaG this is used to identify gaps the children have in their knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar. The new curriculum has many aspects of spelling, punctuation and grammar that are very new to children. This website, therefore, informs teachers where the children are struggling most so that they can target their teaching to these areas.
Another online resource the whole school uses is Purple Mash. This is an excellent resource with many different topics and games for your children to enjoy. It is used within the classrooom to help with writing projects, ICT based projects, coding and topic specific projects. All of these can be done at home with your children and saved online to their work so they are able to share their work back at school.
